History
RailPlan, Inc. (formally EDA Inc.)
was formed in 1987 and began work immediately with Amtrak on the
Ontario Northland Uni-Level Conversion engineering program.
EDA continued to work on projects as
varied as the Caltrans Intercity and Food Service Cars, ABB Septa
Norristown N-5 Vehicle, Amtrak Amfleet I Cab Conference Car, Bursa
Turkey and Calcutta India LRV Programs, The State of North Carolina
Car Refurbishment Program, and Virginia Railway Express Bi-Level
cars. In 1995 EDA Inc. was purchased by ICF Kaiser and became a
wholly owned subsidiary known as Kaiser / EDA.
1999 - three of the original
partners reacquired the business from Kaiser and created a new
entity known as RailPlan International, Inc.
1986 - The original business (EDA)
Incorporated was formed in Silver Spring, Maryland.
1991 - RailPlan (as EDA) designed
and manufactured the first ADA compliant toilet room modules for
Metro North Railroad (M-6)
1995 - RailPlan (as EDA) designed
and manufactured the first ADA compliant toilet room modules for
Amtrak
1995 -
EDA is sold to ICF Kaiser International (wholly owned
subsidiary)
1998 - RailPlan re-purchased the
assets of EDA from ICF Kaiser
2001 - RailPlan relocated it’s
current headquarters and manufacturing facility in Baltimore
Maryland
2005 - RailPlan Mechanical Services
Group is created
