RailPlan's Mechanical Services Group encompasses the maintenance and repair of all types of passenger rail vehicles and many other related services. Our QMP's (Qualified Mechanical Person) as required by 49 CFR Section 238, are trained and certified in all disciplines:

▪ Locomotive Departure Test
▪ Train air brake tests
▪ Daily inspections
▪ Periodic Maintenance Inspections
▪ Single Car Test

We perform four (4) year COT&S for car equipment, including (if required) the return of the equipment to the OEM for rebuilding.
Complete car and locomotive upgrades and modifications are well within our capabilities. RailPlan provides “one stop shopping” for these services including, engineering, design, material procurement and installation. These activities include but are not limited to:

▪ Facility maintenance, yard inspection and track rehabilitation
▪ Wheel change out at owner facility/track
▪ Coupler/draft gear replacement
▪ Locomotive event recorder installation
▪ Passenger car toilet module installation
▪ EPA certified for air conditioning/heating

Our Rail Services documents department provides MMS (Maintenance Management Systems) & MAP (Maintenance Analysis Program) systems to certify and document FRA required periodic inspections and equipment modifications. RailPlan's Rail Services department has provided these and many other services to several commuter agencies, including Maryland “MARC” service, Virginia Rail Express “VRE”, and Amtrak.
RailPlan also provides complete warehouse management services including all aspects of shipping and receiving, inventory control, procurement, inspections, and associated reporting.
