Amtrak came to RailPlan with an idea. “How can we replace our existing loose, heavy, and complicated bedroom seat with something better?”  

RailPlan developed a very simple, easy to operate seat that Amtrak permanently installs into all of their Deluxe Bedrooms on their fleet of sleeping cars (Superliner I, Superliner II, Viewliner).

The seats are ergonomically designed and have been styled to work with the newly remanufactured bedrooms. 

RailPlan’s scope included:

º Concept Development (rendering and mock-ups)

º Detailed Design & Engineering Production

º Testing (smoke, flame, toxicity, static and dynamic structural tests)

º Structural Analysis (FEA)

º Installation Support (fixtures & training)

º Technical & Publications (installation and maintenance manuals, and illustrated parts catalog).
