RailPlan has been awarded by Rotem the
Contract to construct a full scale Mock-Up of the newly designed SCRRA Metrolink
Commuter Railcar. This Mock-Up will be modular in design to facilitate shipment.
to SCRRA facility in Southern California.
The mock-up will incorporate all of the
specification requirements of a Cab, Passenger Door Entry, Passenger Seats, ADA
Toilet Room, Bicycle Storage, and support the interior design and equipment
installation engineering task.
Four phases have been defined for this
project which include carbody structure mock-up, “soft mock-up”, side door
prototype mock-up, and the final mock-up.
Phase 1, carbody structure, will result
in the structure being represented wood and steel construction to simulate
necessary interface points.
Phase 2, “soft mock-up”, will utilize
foam core in order to perform conceptual ergonomic studies of the cab and
interior components.
During phase 3, RailPlan will install a
complete functional side door assembly with emergency table for demonstration.
Phase 4, final mock-up will focus on
removal of many foam core components, installed during phase 2, and installing
actual production configuration equipment and components. Those items will
include: Interior Linings, Lockers, Windscreens, Lightings, Sittings, ADA Toilet
Unit and Cab compounds.
Following various engineering reviews
and, RailPlan will disassemble the mock-up in 5 modules for shipment in the
SCRRA designed location for re-assembling for SCRRA use.
