RailPlan has developed a new generation of diaphragms that could eventually replace all diaphragms being used on passenger railroads in the US market. The new diaphragm design meets the stringent smoke, flame, and toxicity requirements dictated by new industry standards and was designed to meet the most stringent operating conditions.

The new design is compliant with the “Amtrak National Standard” (for compliance with most other passenger railroads) and combines a balance of state of the art materials with proven technologies. Two prototypes have successfully completed static testing and  dynamic/in-service testing and are currently in Amtrak long haul and regional service.
